About the Author
Kent Mauresmo grew up in Los Angeles, California. He attended UCLA college and majored in Computer Information Systems and Business Marketing.�Kent worked as an Account Executive at an Investment Banking firm from 2006-2009. Bored with his career choice, in late 2009 he went back to school and took a crash course in Graphic Design and Computer Programming.�
In April 2010, he launched his first website at Read2Learn.net which encourages people to read books to learn new skills.�He tries to read at least one book per week. He used to be one of those people who would never pick up a book because he thought they were boring.�
Everything changed when he discovered "How To.." books on Amazon which he finds very interesting. Now he's officially a book nerd, and he's always learning something new.�Based on his experience, he's believes that anyone can learn how to do anything if they truly have the desire to learn and succeed.�

PACKED with great information!

Practical, well written, thorough treatment of SEO! I just finished reading this book cover to cover, and will keep certainly keep it for reference. As a pay-per-click (PPC) specialist who also owns websites, I rate this book as "must" read for anyone who has (or is going to build) a wordpress site or blog. This book has prepared me well to work with technical and graphics specialists whom I have retained to develop for me a "fully-functional, dynamic" WordPress website.Many of the sections on SEO, such as those on link building, apply equally well to a owner of a website on any platform, or to individuals looking for a professional introduction to SEO. I give it 5 stars, and am going to order a copy for a colleague.

Please Read With Caution

I don't know who in there right mind is giving this book 5 stars. While it is clearly meant for people that have limited to zero experience with SEO, a lot of the information that the author gives is completely misguided or wrong.
First off, let us discuss the disclaimer on pg.10: "This book may have some flaws and a few grammatical errors." This is an understatement. There are a few errors on each page! This is pretty egregious for a published book. I expect these errors within fan fiction posted to the internet, not a book being sold for $20.
Secondly, I have never come across people who recommend the purchase of clicks, likes, or followers. The author does this on several occasions and on pg.17 even claims to work for a company that sells "'likes and followers.'" This type of action will get your site flagged by Google and there are serious repercussions when they catch you. Google uses "crawlers" or "bots" that are meant to help your website figure out areas to improve. However, these crawlers will also notice if your site goes from having 10 inbound links to 3,000 in one day. I can't stress how important it is not to go this route when attempting to navigate your own SEO.
While I understand most people want to save money by doing these things on their own, this could also destroy their business. Think about it this way, just because you buy a book that tells you how to replace the cylinders in your car, it doesn't necessarily mean you should try it on your own. A professional is probably a more viable option. Take this into consideration when you are about to try implementing SEO as an amateur.
There are a number of reputable sites online (ex. UpWork) that offer you the ability to hire freelancers for whatever your business needs. Use this a trial and error system. If you like where your site is heading (using something like Google Analytics as a reference), you can continue to use the freelancer. If not, try someone else. There are even complete courses on Lynda (a LinkedIn company) that teach you the ins and outs of SEO.
Also, while it is tempting to use the free services that the author suggests for keyword analysis, keep in mind that you get what you pay for. There are a number of paid options (such as Moz) that do a much better job at predicting trends, grading your pages, etc. Most of them even offer a free 30 day trial with full support.
In the end, I am only trying to help your business. If you think the author is giving you solid advice, then go for it. But please be advised that not all advice given is in your best interests.

SO HELPFUL I BOUGHT A SECOND HARD COPY AND AM PAYING SOMEONE TO READ IT SO SHE CAN HELP ME OPTIMIZE MY SITE!

My first set of advice is: READ THE FIRST 44 PAGES OF THIS BOOK BEFORE YOU BUILD YOUR WORDPRESS SITE! This book contains so much information it can be a bit overwhelming if you are someone like me--a non techie person who has worked with a local self taught website guy (found on craigslist) who has no SEO training. I paid him to do a "first draft" of my wordpress website but I wanted to make so many changes once it was done, that I ended up teaching myself how to do it all. As a business person I have a good marketing "sense" and I used that to create a site that I believe PEOPLE will enjoy reading BUT what I have done, according to Kent's book, will not catch the attention of search engines. So it was a bit heartbreaking when I realized that I made a LONG list of "errors" in my design that now have to be fixed. I realized that if I worked with another person it could perhaps be more of a fun, team, effort. I found someone who does a lot of online writing for websites who also had some SEO experience but not with Wordpress. SO, I just bought a second copy of Ken's book and I had Amazon send it to her and I am paying her to read the book. That's how helpful this book is. It is like a giant checklist of all the "to do" to catch the eye of search engines. I DO have suggestions for the next draft of the book, however....Kent, perhaps you can offer your readers a few "real life" examples of site you thing work well. I would particularly be interested in sites with the kind of "Home" pages you suggest. How do we "balance" what a site visitor wants to see versus what GOOGLE wants to see? For example, you state in your book that Google loves "content." I actually knew that before I read your book, but I didn't realize that "content" seems to be required on the HOME page (and I realize the blog pages are also important). I thought all pages on the site were important and counted towards "content". You suggest writing up to 2,000 words on the home page--again to catch the attention of search engines. The reality is, however, that we are now dealing with folks who are looking at sites on tiny, phone size screens. From a marketing perspective....reading through paragraph after paragraph of text (even with bolded text and under lines and different colored headings) is a turn off to many viewers--especially younger people who have very short attention spans. I purposely kept my website home page mostly visual--interesting photos and a few attention grabbing short blubs that are fast and easy to read on phone size screens. Then the viewer has the option to click on "read more" and will be sent to another page of more detailed "text." So now, based on your book I need to rethink and revamp this design....and would love to see real life examples of sites, Kent, that you think work well. The other issue is headings. To get seen by search engines it seems as though headings have to be very repetitive...my site is not a single topic site...it addresses multiple, esoteric issues so I need to be able to use a variety of "key" words. So more "real life" advice and examples on how to balance what PEOPLE like to see versus what GOOGLE and other search engines needs to see would be very helpful! For now, I plan to use YOUR website, Kent, as an example.
