The Robert Fulghum of Librarians

Before reading The Truth About Catalogers, I had no interest in librarians, and I certainly didn't want to be one. After reading The Truth About Catalogers, I still don't want to be a librarian. But I did find the humor to be accesible, the writing to be direct and amusing, and the illustrations to be cute. Mostly, I felt that Will Manley had captured the whimsical tone made so popular by Robert Fulghum (of the All I Really Need to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten fame). I found the stories to be less about Card Catalogers, and more to be about people. I feel that was the greatest strength of the book - I've never understood the Dewey Decimal system, but I laughed out loud at the exploits of people who obsess about it!

This book is tounge-in-cheek funny. A must for all working in librarianship professionally or para-professionally.
I am an MLS student and have not yet made my mind up whether to work in reference or cataloging...my heart calls me to reference work, but part of me admires such cataloging luminaries as Sandy Berman, etc.
Moreover, catalogers of the new Era will have to be among the most computer-savvy, too. Like or no, that's the way it's gonna be.
Anyway, as with most of Will Manley's books, very funny treatment of his subject matter. He is truly the Dave Barry of the library world.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over the last year I have searched for Primavera P6 books and kept coming up short for a book that followed a self teaching path. I read the Admin Manual (really did) , Reference Manual, Oracle P6.2 Training Guide and a couple other mini manuals from suppliers. I even installed P6v7 on my own and configured the WebAccess module (following admin manual) but when it came to using the features I was at a loss. Then I found this book on Amazon and NOTHING COMES CLOSE. The book gives you a nice, to the point, intro on scheduling with a Primavera flare and walks you through step by step with nice visuals. To be honest I am on Chapter 4 and really got excited, I may stay up the entire night :) but anyhow this is my first and probably only review but if you really want to learn P6 and like to teach yourself and don't want to pay the fees for the training classes this is the way to go. Happy Scheduling!

This manual will help new users to the software, regardless of their experience level with this scheduling software.
It is easy to follow and understand, both for troubleshooting and instruction. I have looked at and reviewed several aftermarket manuals for P6, and this one is BY FAR the one I would most recommend!

A history of visibility

This book is 'a history of visibility'; it shows how the swastika became the key device in the Nazi colonisation of the visual field. It does not deal with what the swastika 'means' but rather with how the contradictory messages of racist ideology were given form in the swastika as symbol or 'brand'. This book was described by Stephen Heller, in Design Issues (Autumn 1995) as `one of the most important books about design history and design's role in political and social persuasion that has been published to date'. Heller is the author of The Swastika Symbol Beyond Recognition (Allworth Press 2000).

I"m a little disappointed in the cookbook, lots of recipes just say "paleo bbq sauce, or paleo ketschup" etc I thought it would be a bit more like cooking with natural ingredients & making those products. Leaves me with the burden of finding them in my area.

May say Paleo - but excellent for all.

A great cookbook that not only offers those following a strict Paleo diet, but for anyone that wants a more nutritious meal all in one pot. A wide variety of different dishes so you never tire of such a small offering as in some cookbooks. The barbecue recipe was the best barbecue I'd tasted and all accomplished using only spices without all the sugar. I highly recommend it.

This has been a God send for me. Having been new to Paleo, only three months into it now, I was struggling to come up with meals I could prepare that didn't take forever. The slow cooker is great because I throw all of the ingredients in before I leave for work and have a delicious meal when I return. So far, the recipes have not failed me.

Solid information, poorly presented.

This book presents a crappy appearance. At first, it appears disorganized and non-user-friendly, at least to someone who doesn't already speak and read modern Greek. It looks like a military training manual-purely utilitarian, developed directly from a single-width typewritten manuscript, with no use of typesetting. It's like reading pages typed on a Remington Portable, and the pages are packed solid, top to bottom, which makes it difficult to pick out any particular subject matter. There are reasons to use varying sizes and weights of type, and this book doesn't make use of them. The table of contents is useless-it's half a page long and consists of a list of topics covered, but without page numbers. Another reviewer mentioned that there aren't many examples of conversational usage; there are folktales including conversations.
On the other hand, there is a useful index. If you need to find out about a particular grammatical situation, you can, using the index. Another thing I like about the book is: there are no cartoons. Even the best college-level Greek grammar books, for some reason, rely on in-context cartoons to
...what? Break up the text? Make the student smile? Frankly, speaking as a student, I smile when I get the right information in a comprehensible manner, and am able to use it correctly. So, this book is worth having, if you are willing to put up with packed page after packed page of unvarying, uninflected typewritten material. For a Yale University Press publication, it's unimpressive. It really could use an overhaul.

Great book. I've been studying Greek for years now ...

Great book. I've been studying Greek for years now (my mother comes from Greece), and this book builds upon vocabulary and grammar in a logical progression from chapter to chapter. Best book I've ever used for learning the Greek language (besides the children's books I used as a kid). It's so great, I've search to see if there is a continuation to this book... (haven't found it yet).
