The Best Book For Dante's Cosmology

If you are working on Dante's cosmology- his astrology, anthropology, physics, angelology, metaphysics of substance or doctrine of creation- this is a phenomenal resource. What you might find in smatterings of other Dante sources (for example the two beautiful essays dealing with creation in "Dante's Commedia; Theology as Poetry") are treated with great breadth here. Boyde develops his study with a comprehensive detail and brilliance that over-all surpasses the similar scope of subject found in "The Divine Comedy and the Encyclopedia of Arts and Sciences." Moreoever, Boyde writes with such clarity that even though he passes by the metaphysical detail that Christian Moevs treats so aptly in his "The Metaphysics of Dante," Boyde's clear summaries provide the heart of Dante's larger metaphysical moves.

Engaging others positively is essential for success in life and on the job. Empowering others, bring out their best qualities allows us to have an overflowing bucket. It's a win win for everyone involved. Let's share positive engagement in all we do. This book was short and includes tools to help one become successful in filling theirs and others buckets.

I don't whether I've ever felt more ripped off by a book

This is not a book. This is a reader's digest article. Be nice to people and surround yourself with people who enhance your life and you'll be happier and healthier. I mean it is exactly that self-evident and vapid. It is also 88 pages long. I paid $18 for 88 pages of nothing and literally 40+ pages of padding.

Parts of the book didn't even ring true. There's a story of a star salesperson getting an award and being FURIOUS about it. Not just indifferent, but furious, and expressing his fury right there and then at the public event, because he already had plenty of awards and it didn't mean anything to him. No one with the people skills to excel in sales would act like that unless they were mentally ill. I'm just so furious that I spent $18 on this. I feel not just disappointed but scammed.

After reading this book, I took a look at myself and realized I may have been Book smart, but I carried a negative attitude, which I worked on changing to a Positive Attitude after reading this book. About the Author

Harold Hackney, Professor Emeritus of counseling at Syracuse University, is a national certified counselor, licensed professional counselor, and approved clinical supervisor and is a Fellow of the American Counseling Association. Harold is past-president of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, a former member of the ACA Governing Council, and served on the Board of the Center for Credentialing in Education. His areas of expertise include counselor training, training of future counseling professors, research methodology, counseling processes, and counseling theory. Hackney’s writings draw from his experiences as a school counselor and a marriage and family counselor, as well as from his research on counseling processes and spirituality in counseling. Prior to his appointment at Syracuse University, Hackney was a professor at Purdue University and Fairfield University.

Sherry Cormier, Professor Emerita of counseling, rehabilitation counseling, and counseling psychology at West Virginia University, is a licensed psychologist in the state of West Virginia and a long-standing member of the American Counseling Association. Her areas of expertise include counselor training, counseling interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, clinical supervision, and health and wellness. Currently she is affiliated with Transformational Practices, an endeavor in which she provides clinical and consultation services and training to a variety of individuals and organizations. Prior to her appointment at West Virginia University, she was a faculty member at the University of Tennessee.

Easy-to-read textbook detailnig the counseling process

Hackney & Cormier offer a simple stage presentation of counseling that explains the process to readers in a revealing way. Each stage is detailed, and various intervention genres are explored. At times, however the book does not flow well. The authors do not take enough time to show how each aspect of counseling ties together. Hackney & Cormier, however, are sensitive -- almost to a fault -- to multicultural issues.

I've been reading several books for my counseling program, and this one is actually very good at teaching and examining the "basics" of counseling. I recommend you read this book before others - it's very good!

Very Helpful

I just begun my journey to become a therapist. The journey seems a bit overwhelming but this book has been helpful. The authors provide step by step guidance in how the counseling processes works and how it develops. I am sure that counseling does not enfold in such a systematic way but it is helpful to understand the steps. They cover things from the language of counseling and they also cover affective, cognitive, behavioral and systemic interventions. The book covers assessments and gives ideas on how to write them. This book has helped to ease the burdens of feeling totally inept to feeling only somewhat inept.

The book is a little dry and a little hard to hard. The chapters read quickly.

Life Saver

This book is about people who have been destroying themselves by loving and being obsessed with others. It is full of real-life cases. A reader can see himself/herself in one of them and that can be hurtful.
The lessons it teaches include:
1. Do not try to control other people.
2. Do not destroy your health and well-being with love and obsession.
3. Admit that the power of attachment is so powerful that you cannot control it.
The cases are shocking, interesting, and to the point.
I suggest a reader read it from start to finish, including the introduction.

As a writer, I needed a compassionate account of what obsession with another person was all about without haveing to wade through an academic treatise on the subject. I got just what I was looking for in John D. Moore's book. Thank you John. Also, I notice that this is an iUniverse published book. I am very impressed with the quality of the printing and manufacturing of the book and am already considering going this way with one of my own works. "Confusing Love with Obsession" could have used a better copyediter though as there are quite a number of typos in the book. I'm willing to overlook this just because I am so pleased with the content.

Exceptionally Informative Content. Highly Recommend.

I have been a nurse for many years. I have never purchased this book during all the years of my nursing nor purchased it while in nursing school (the oooolllldddeeerrr version of course, lol). This book tells it all. I wished I had purchased this long ago. The tests go into great detail of what, how, why test are done. At this time I also have renal calculi. I am looking for new information on IVP's. I have had IVP's before, but I wanted to know if there were any new changes about the test. It explains in the book the reason's why an IVP is done, what is done during the procedure, how the patient may feel during the procedure, the side effects of the IVP such as having a reaction to the dye. Also explains what the patient needs to do prior to taking the IVP (24 hr prep). Tells you how long the time span from start to finish of the IVP.
This book covers everything about labs, radiology, etc. I just downloaded this on my Kindle, so I plan to do more reviewing when I look into it more. I looked over some of the labs tests and it goes into great detail of the tests.They even cover what color test tubes to use, if anyone is a new learner. I wished I had this a long time ago, working in ICU as we nurses draw labs on the patients and not the laboratory. It will give me more detailed information on labratory testing and any new changes. We have a lab book in ICU, but I swear it is not as good as this one. The book also makes it so easy to locate the information you need in a hurry.
I just wanted to get some type of review on here for people who are interested in purchasing the book.
So far I am very impressed and anyone wanting to purchase the book then I highly suggest you do. You can't go wrong with this book.

Pagana is a really good resource to have when you need to quickly look ...

Pagana is a really good resource to have when you need to quickly look up lab or diagnostic references. We are required to have this book and use it for our care plans in nursing school. While it is helpful, I do feel it doesn't break down the why's so much. Let me explain. If a certain lab value is off in a patient, let's just say potassium, it will tell you certain signs or reasons why it may be high or low like renal insufficiency. What it doesn't explain is how that renal insufficiency is influencing those potassium levels. At least not to the extent that is needed for my nursing schools care plans anyway. That is what made this book frustrating. If you just need this book for nursing school, by all means buy it here because it's about the cheapest option you will find. If you want it as a reference I suggest just using google.

Use for Nursing School

This book has been very helpful while being in nursing school. I just wish it was written more like my drug guide having specific information in a chart type layout instead of a paragraph. There are some things I have noticed the book does not include leaving students to use google. It is however a pretty good book.
